Stop by my workshop to see furniture being made. You’re also invited to visit my home where finished pieces are in use throughout. A very rural and peaceful setting awaits you at Brian Jones Woodworking, which is only 15 minutes from downtown Burlington and the waterfront. We see character in the natural beauty of wood, including the knots, mineral streaks, sapwood, and heartwood, which we trademarked as character wood. Highlighting the naturalness of the wood, rather than eliminating it, gives each piece soul. The story of the tree’s life is captured within each product, showing the growing conditions or maple spile holes where they have been drilled for maple syrup. Tours by appointment. 7 Chiroptera Cabin Company Chiroptera Cabin Company manufacturers seven different models of wooden bat houses and builds custom designed bat houses for special orders. All models are “Bat Certified” by Bat Conservation International as properly designed and built. Three models are made from plywood and Pine, three models are made from Eastern White Cedar, and one model is made from 100% FSC Certified Western Red Cedar. At Northend Hardwoods you have many convenient lumber options, from Ash to Zebrawood, to suit any project needs. Custom milling and profiles, custom doors, cabinet grade lumber and plywood, marine grade plywood, and flexible wood veneers are available. I use traditional methods and reproduction hand tools to make my furniture. The gift shop and showroom are outdoors on our property, including a breathtaking view of Mount Mansfield. Visitors who shop for outdoor furniture can also enjoy the sights of a working sheep and poultry farm. Come sit in a Cedar Adirondack chair and view the beauty of Vermont. Tours can be made by appointment. 14 Wood-U-Believe Wood-U-Believe specializes in custom designs of church furnishings, toys, chair caning, relief carving, carved signs, and finish repairs. Rocking horses, dollhouses, and wooden wagons will delight any child. Wooden pulpits, candle and plant stands, and statue bases are a great addition to any church. Wood-U-Believe is a member of the Woodchuck Turners of Northern Vermont and the Green Mountain Wood Carvers. Hands-on classes and demonstrations available. Open Monday-Friday, 9-1. I take pleasure in tapping into the hardwoods available from Vermont's abundant forestsand passing my enthusiasm of wood turning onto my customers. Tours by appointment. 18 Clarner Woodworks The fine, custom-made furniture that you will find from Clarner Woodworks is produced in our 800sf shop located in the renovated barn next to my home. While traditional joinery (dovetails and mortise and tenon), clean lines, and subtle details distinguish much of my work, it is not confining. This is demonstrated by my "gate chairs" which were featured in an article in the October 2002 issue of Ski Magazine. Open Monday-Friday, 10-4, or call any time for appointment. At Janet Collins Furniture Maker, you will find a one-person shop specializing in furniture and accessories that have a traditional look. A focus on handwork can be found in each piece with an emphasis on turning, carving, inlay, and gilding. The furniture is built using traditional methods of joinery, such as hand cut dovetails and mortise and tenon. I build custom furniture one piece at a time, based on my client's needs and desires.
